Meditation
Silence and breathing – the keys to inner peace and mental strength.

Meditation is my daily break and mental strength training. Let go of fear, build confidence and find peace. How can meditation strengthen you?

Amelia Fjellvard

My daily break and mental strength training

I use meditation to find peace, let go of fear when it arises, and strengthen my self-confidence. Every day I set aside about 20 minutes for meditation, often in the morning or mid-day. This is my daily break – a way to reset my mind and strengthen myself mentally. I enjoy guided meditations, where a calm voice helps me into deep relaxation and releases tension, thoughts, and stress. At the same time, I appreciate just sitting in silence, letting my breath find its natural rhythm, and feeling how everything falls into place.

What about you? When do you meditate? What is your favorite way to meditate – guided or in silence?

Working with Fear and Self-Confidence

Meditation not only helps me relax, but also helps me deal with stress and negative thoughts. When I observe my thoughts without judging them, I see more clearly how fear and self-doubt affect me. Meditation helps me create an inner security that does not depend on external validation.

Have you ever experienced stage fright or felt like you weren't good enough? How do you deal with it?

Techniques I use in meditation

Guided meditation is especially helpful when I feel restless or need direction, while stillness meditation helps me develop deeper self-awareness and calm.

I use several techniques in my meditation, which help me find calm, reduce stress, and build self-confidence:

  • Breathing technique 4-7-8: Inhale deeply for 4 seconds, hold for 7 seconds, and exhale for 8 seconds. This helps me ground my body and calm down. It's a great way to find balance.
  • Body scan: I start with my head and work my way down to my toes, trying to relax each part of my body. This is a wonderful exercise for recovery and presence.
  • Focus on the "Now" with the 5-4-3-2-1 method: I look at 5 things around me, listen for 4 sounds, feel 3 feelings in my body, smell 2 scents, and taste 1 taste. This helps me slow down and return to calm.
  • Guided Meditation: I often listen to guided meditations that help me find peace and release tension. Voices that lead me into deep peace help me create a safe inner state.
  • Silence meditation: Sometimes I prefer to just sit in silence and let my breathing find its natural rhythm. This helps me calm my mind and become more aware of my thoughts.

What has worked best for you in your meditation practice?

A journey towards greater self-confidence

Self-confidence is built over time, and I am taking this journey one step at a time.

It's not about being perfect, but about daring.

If you’re new to meditation, you might want to start with just a few minutes a day. Find a quiet place, close your eyes, and focus on your breathing. A simple technique is to count your breaths—inhale deeply for four seconds, hold your breath for four seconds, and exhale slowly for four seconds. This helps you become more aware of the present moment and calm your mind.

What is your biggest challenge with meditation, and how do you deal with it?

Meditation as the key to balance

Meditation is an important part of my daily life and gives me the opportunity to fill my own cup, so that I can face the world with more clarity, energy and presence. In addition to mental clarity, meditation helps my body relax, lower stress hormones and improve the quality of my sleep. I know that the journey towards greater self-confidence takes time, but I am taking it one step at a time. I am already noticing small changes – I am more courageous, and fear does not feel as paralyzing as before.
